EUREKA! Harmonized and modernized maritime safety services in the Adriatic and Ionian seas

EUREKA is a project involving the countries on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. The main goal is to raise the level of maritime safety in the region by introducing systematic cooperation and coordination among maritime administrations. Some of the goals are simplified ship reporting to ADRIREP, harmonization and standardization of VTS procedures and services, joint VTSO training, and implementation of Sea Traffic Management.

Wärtsilä Contracted to Install Route Exchange on 50 Ships

The STM BALT SAFE project further improves tanker safety in the Baltic Sea by enabling route exchange on more tankers and providing digital VTS-services to them.
Wärtsilä Voyage won a contract to update the ECDIS on-board 50 tankers. “We believe that standardised information sharing is an important key to improve safety and efficiency in the shipping industry. Industry Consortium Contracted to Run STM Infrastructure

The infrastructure for the entire Sea Traffic Management (STM) ecosystem has been contracted to the newly formed non-profit industry consortium, Navelink. All existing implementations and the current STM projects will run on a platform with high capacity. There will be professional development and staging environments to ease implementation of new services and updates of the existing ones. “To have a consortium of committed international industry actors running the infrastructure is a natural step towards a global secure interoperable STM infrastructure” says Per Löfbom, Chief STM Architect.
