STM Balt Safe — WP 2
STM Balt Safe service infrastructure

Digital Maritime Service Infrastructure

The Work Package aims to ensure an interoperable exchange of information ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore by managing and developing a digital maritime service infrastructure and supporting systems providers. The management of the digital maritime service infrastructure is rather complex and contains of standardized data formats and a defined set of interfaces (standardized API) in order to allow systems to interact with the hardware or other software components. There is also a requirement to have a service registry where all STM-related services are found and a registry of users in order to ensure that only the entity that is allowed to consume a certain service will have access to the information.

In addition to internal standards, also external interfaces are standardized, for example Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G, 4G, AIS, VDES (in progress) etc.

In order to apply Sea Traffic Management on the tanker traffic use case in the STM BALT SAFE project as well as the maritime services, there is a need to maintain and further develop the digital maritime service infrastructure that has been developed in the STM Validation Project for the testbeds within that project.

System architects services are important as a support to partners in developing interoperable services.
System architecture deliverables include requirement analysis from a technical perspective, design of information models, sequence diagrams, data models, service interfaces, service quality attributes and corresponding documentation. Sofware Design Reviews of proposed designs will also be a service provided to the STM BALT SAFE project as a whole.
