The Swedish Maritime Administration has initiated an extension of the ongoing MONALISA project, called MONALISA 2.0, through a renewed application to the European Commission’s TEN-T program.

MONALISA 2.0 takes its point of departure in the results and experiences from the current MONALISA project, co-financed by TEN-T under the Motorways of the Sea and which has received very positive feedback from stakeholders, international bodies and the European Commission.  MONALISA 2.0 is a concrete step in the process of further developing the Motorways of the Sea concept by implementing concrete pilot actions and studies that will foster deployment of new maritime services and processes.

Genom en ansökan till EU-kommissionens TEN-T program tar nu Sjöfartsverket initiativ till en utökning av det pågående MONALISA-projektet. MONALISA 2.0 är ett direkt resultat av den positiva respons som Sjöfartsverket fått när det gäller utvecklingen av ett nytt Sea Traffic Management-koncept. Det nya konceptet som bygger på dynamisk och proaktiv ruttplanering är en maritim version av flygets trafikledningskoncept SESAR.

A project that has allowed the Port of Cork to precisely monitor and record the winter program of seabed ploughing in real time for the first ever time is being delivered by Succorfish in partnership with Irish marine communication specialists SEA-Tech.
The groundbreaking exercise, which is being carried out aboard a utility vessel working to lift sediment from the port seabed into the water column and back out to sea, sees live, up-to-the-minute and highly valuable location data transferred back to officials instantly in real time. And, given its success, it is anticipated that it could change the way future ploughing operations are carried out as well as greatly improve efficiency for the world’s second largest natural harbour.
