Test Beds Reporting

Test Beds Reporting

The objective of this section is to publish the specific reports produced from the analysis of the data collected from test beds carried out during the evaluation process.

At this stage, a compilation of data from the ships and the ports included in STM has been made by monitoring the ships included in the Test Beds. The data is extracted from the tracking of the 275 STM ships recruited until September 2017, in order to provide a baseline scenario and to explore the wide variety of possibilities of analysis for the validation of STM concept.

STM Fleet Classified per Flag State

In the aim of making a closer examination of the STM fleet configuration, they have been classified per type of service, categorizing the term “service” into four concepts:

  1. Regular services http://stmvalidation.eu/ship_service/regular-services/
  2. Tramp services http://stmvalidation.eu/ship_service/tramp-services/
  3. Cruise services http://stmvalidation.eu/ship_service/cruise-services/
  4. Other services http://stmvalidation.eu/ship_service/other-services/
  5. .

The focus on berth-to-berth analysis needs to take into account the type of service because of the specific characteristics of the voyages to be analysed.

STM Ships per type of service and type of ship

Not only the number of ships provided by each manufacturer is shown in the following figure, but also the specific type of ships recruited by each and the timeline for STM module implementation per procurement during the rest of the project.

Implementation Timeline in Voyage Management Test Beds according to Procurements

This information is essential to show the quantity of data that is going to be delivered in the different phases of the Test Bed and to stress that each manufacturer will provide different data and possibly in different formats.

CRITERIA FOR USE CASES SELECTION

Regarding the holistic analysis of STM, the existence of STM compliant ships calling at two or more STM compliant ports and navigating through STM Shore Centers coverage areas becomes essential, in order to have the means to perform the berth-to-berth analysis. This specific focus needs to be prioritized in order to provide a deep evaluation of the impact of STM concept in the shipping industry.

Since the 24th of May until the 24th of August the shore centers have been approached by the following number of STM Ship:

In particular, the case study selection has been made following the criteria of choosing STM Ships regularly calling in STM Ports, STM Ships passing through STM shore centres coverage areas, taking in all the types of ships included in the test bed and all the ports included in Port CDM test bed. the result of the selection has been the following:
