Developers’ Forum launched

Published: November 14, 2016

In pace with the development and testing of the Sea Traffic Management solutions, a top priority is interoperability among different systems, ship and shore-side actors, architectures and services. To ensure this, a Developers’ Forum has been established to raise and discuss technical matters in the area to ensure seamless communication among different systems.

More than 60 partners and six ECDIS-manufacturers are cooperating to create interoperability among the different systems and services. As a result, a wide range of technical questions needs to be discussed and studied to find optimal solutions. For this purpose, a Developers´ Forum has been established to allow both physical and online meetings, digital discussions and information exchange. The forum’s main task is to make sure that the various systems, architectures and services are interoperable to ensure that they can communicate seamlessly with each other.

The Developers’ Forum was launched with a one-day workshop in Gothenburg on September 29, which set the goal and working methods for the forum. At the same time a dedicated space at the project website www.stmvalidation.eu was launched as a digital Developers’ Forum to share and circulate standards, formats and Q&As, and allow work and discussions to continue in the digital world. The initial meeting will be followed up by continuous online meetings. The forum is open for all partners participating in the STM project whether or not they have participated in the STM procurement.
