Strong interest for MONALISA 2.0 in Cyprus

Strong interest for MONALISA 2.0 in Cyprus

Published: April 12, 2014

The Digital Ship Cyprus conference in Limassol gathered the maritime communication industry and Cypriote shipping companies. MONALISA 2.0 and Sea Traffic Management (STM) were scheduled for the second day. However, when Alexandros Josephides during the first day presented the Cyprus Shipping Chamber’s focus on e-Navigation, he raised the expectations by showing the MONALISA 2.0 introduction film. Mr. Josephides expressed a strong interest from Cyprus in joining the development of e-Navigation.

Ulf Siwe presented in the morning of the second day, and the number of questions during the session and afterwards reflected the high interest. Mr. Siwe never made it to the coffee break before the next presentation started. The information security was put to the test by a certified “hacker” which shows there are challenges that need to be solved within the STM concept. The Lynceus project presented their solution on safe evacuation of passenger ships, which relates to MONALISA 2.0 Safer ship and Safer operations activities.

In summary, a positive interest for STM and many good contacts for the future.
